Voicing Justice, Equality, and Freedom: Everybody?s Business

Resisting oppression is not new. It has occurred in all civilizations. The activity of seeking justice, equality, and freedom has been documented globally. Since the 1770s, slavery was outlawed in the northern sections of the United States. Therefore, it was illegal in the North as well as in the British colonies of Canada. At the same time, the federal law required the return of fugitive slaves to slaveholders. Voicing Justice, Equality and Freedom is established to investigate the tenacity of advocates who have used their voices and imagination for the liberation of the oppressed. There have been many who assisted the oppressed. It is not about the characters that helped in achieving the goal. However, it is about the principles employed. More than 400 personalities are included in this work regarding their philosophical thoughts, inventions, and liberating strategies for themselves and others. In 1951, Haile Selassie made it crystal clear that very few people have taken responsibility for oppressing others. They have contradicted the proper order of equal human rights and social justice. He sums by saying that “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph.” Voicing for justice, freedom, and equality is everybody’s business!
